Rub your stomach!

Denisa Udroiu

Pain is a great teacher- it teaches us how to move away from it into well being. As I lie in bed with pain- my belly is swollen and no amount of pain killer nor the consultation to the doctor helped- I try to figure out a solution with Google. You'll say I just eat too much, which is true- it is the season of Christmas parties and delicious food, of freshly baked cinnamon buns and warm sweet mulled wine. For anybody struggling with digestion problems, all this does not sound as charming as it could. Sugar, wheat, dairy products and other transform the enchanting moments in plain discomfort when it is not horrible pain.

But Google was kind to me- after some research, it turned up from its mysterious brain a simple though efficient method. Only after few minutes my pain went down on a scale from an 8 to a 2. I started to move around and anticipate with joy the parties coming in the next days. It is an old Tao exercise, which applied regularly will tremendously help with general health. Of course moderation in eating and avoidance of foods to which one is intolerant or allergic are highly recommended, as it is medical check-up.

The exercise is as simple as it can be: rub your hands to warm them up, place them on the lower belly, then bring them up rubbing the stomach in circles on each side of the navel, as in the pic below.

On the site http://thegreattao.com/html/taoofrevitalization.html from where the pic and exercise are taken, you will also find testimonials and stories of successful stomach rubbing told by the author Stephen Chang.

Additional reading and other simple exercises clearly explained:
